Course Description
To provide a clinical workshop to assist practicing therapists in the evaluation and treatment of clients with adhesive capsulitis and shoulder impingement. This workshop is intended to help therapists become more comfortable with evaluating capsular tightness at the glenohumeral joint, performing joint mobilizations, and home exercise program prescription
Course Objectives
- Understand the histologic and pathologic changes that occur with adhesive capsulitis.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify a capsular pattern at the glenohumeral joint through performing a clinical exam.
- Perform joint mobilization techniques to address capsular restrictions related to adhesive capsulitis.
- Understand the difference in clinical presentation between clients with external and internal impingement.
- Perform a clinical exam to assess the integrity of the rotator cuff musculature, identify bursal irritation, and determine posterior capsule tightness.
- Demonstrate ability to perform joint mobilization techniques to address posterior capsular tightness related to shoulder impingement.
- Develop an understanding of muscle groups with emphasis on shoulder impingement rehabilitation.
