The results are in for the fourth annual Employee Sharing Program and employees once again demonstrated the importance of contributing to the experience of employees, patients and families at Bellin Health, raising more than $70,000.
“The results are a clear indicator that our employees are engaged and confident in the direction of our health system,” said Michael Frohna, president of The Foundation. “Surpassing our goal, despite a tough economy, is remarkable and employees should be proud.”
The goal of the 2009 campaign was $40,000. Contributions totaled $71,187.90. To date, the program has raised more than $270,000.
The program allows employees to designate how they would like their individual gift to be used. Popular choices included the Robert Fry Employee Assistance Program fund to help employees in need, the Michael Wilde Nursing Scholarship fund, the George Bennett Nursing Scholarship and allowing the Bellin Foundation to use the gift wherever it is most needed.
In addition, employees could also select a new option this year called Bellin Special Program. The special program will change annually and will highlight a program or service offered by the health system. The new KidShape/TeenShape Program to treat childhood obesity is the designated Bellin Special Program for this year, and also proved to be a popular choice.

KidShape/TeenShape Program
The KidShape/TeenShape program has been designated as the Bellin Special Program for 2009. BMG physicians identified the strong need for an evidence based childhood weight management product for the Bellin Health System . The new KidShape/TeenShape program was developed by a pediatric endocrinologist and has a proven track record of success. The course involves not only the child/teen participant, but also a parent during the weekly nine week course. Each class is taught by a registered dietitian, personal trainer and behavioral counselor to deliver the remarkable results. Donations will go to offset the cost of this program so we can offer it to our patients, families and the community at an affordable price.

Dr. Lyle Edelblute Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the late Dr. Lyle Edelblute. As the founder and medical director of the Program, he contributed in numerous ways.
Initially, he taught classes and later he was an active member of the Advisory and Admissions Committees. He opened his heart and his home to the students and staff of the School.
As he neared the end of a very long life, he wanted to continue to contribute to the students and therefore established a scholarship fund in his name.
The criteria he used in establishing this scholarship is that it had to be someone who is in the top 10% of their class and that the student be bright and dedicated. His dream of academic excellence was always paramount. Additionally, the recipient should be viewed as a future contributor to the radiology profession.
