Frequently Asked Questions about the Executive Heath Program

What is the Bellin Health Executive Health Program

It is a state-of-the-art medical evaluation and the most in-depth, comprehensive health assessment available. This powerful screening process designed to detect health problems early, before they become problems. It is an integrated analysis which pulls together the patient's past medical history, current diagnoses, health concerns, family/gender/age-related risks, and current physical condition. The Executive Health Program is a patient education tool which provides a system-by-system, detailed list of recommendations both to the patient and to the primary care physician. It is a second opinion process giving the patient the benefit of input from two physicians - the Executive Health physician with the primary doctor - on every aspect of the patient's health.

How is the Executive Health exam different from my regular physical examination with my primary MD?

Today's health care system requires doctors to see as many patients as possible. Many people are frustrated when they never get more than a few minutes of one-on-one time with their physician. That is one of the main differences Executive Health offers. Your Executive Health Examincludes at least four meetings, totaling over two hours of direct patient contact with the Executive Health physician. This ensures your questions will be heard and addressed and your medical conditions and treatment recommendations will be fully explained. You will understand your health care decisions and options. As Dr. Koster says, "Executive Health is the ultimate complete physical exam that most doctors would love to provide for their patients but rarely get the chance in today's health care environment."

Executive Health is designed to maximize patient convenience. Your first meeting with the Executive Health physician takes place at Bellin, your home or your office - wherever you like. Your next appointment is your "campus day" at Bellin Hospital. You are personally escorted to your doctor's exam, nutrition consult, fitness assessment, cardiopulmonary stress test, and other studies as needed. Bellin Hospital specially schedules these Executive Health components so all events are completed in about half a day. Your final meeting with Dr. Koster is to receive and discuss your written report. Like the initial meeting, this can be at the Executive Health office, your home or your work - it's up to you.

Why is the Executive Health Program so expensive?

The Executive Health Program cost compares quite favorably to most executive physical plans. While offering several added benefits not found in other plans, the specialized XPX team uses the many resources within Bellin Health to achieve unmatched efficiencies and patient convenience. Compared to similarly priced competitors, Executive Health offers the following advantages: more than twice as much time with the physician; more patient education materials with more explanation and input from the physician; the most detailed, comprehensive written report available with understandable, customized analysis for each patient; and periodic follow-up contacts with each patient.

While other executive physical programs use group teaching sessions, Bellin's Executive Health patients receive one-on-one treatment from start to finish - from Dr. Koster, the nutritionist, the fitness specialist, our nurse, etc. Also, with the coordinated Executive Health scheduling, the cost in terms of time is utterly minimal - an efficiently scheduled half day with no parking hassles and no crowded waiting rooms.

Finally, XExecutive Health patients receive services close to home. This means that there is no time spend on travel or expenses incurred for lodging for three or more days.

Will my insurance pay for the Executive Health Program?

You will need to check with your insurance company. Executive Health will provide you with a single bill for all services. The bill will contain descriptions of each component so that your insurance company can determine what is and is not covered. We will provide you with a list of services before you enroll if you want to find out what your insurance will cover.

If the Executive Health medical director determines you require additional tests not included in the basic XPX program, your insurance will be billed directly for those tests.

How does the Executive Health Program work with my primary MD?

Throughout your Executive Health Program, we are in touch with your primary physician. From the initial request for the release of your medical records to discussions as needed about findings or specialty consultants, the Executive Health team is dedicated to keeping your primary physician "in the loop". Your doctor will receive a personal letter accompanying the copy of the final report.

What if I should require additional tests not included in the Executive Health Program?

Should you require tests not included in the basic Executive Health menu, those tests will be scheduled, if at all possible, during your "campus day". Another option would be to have us simply notify your primary physician if you would prefer to arrange the testing through his or her office at a later date.

Any additional tests or procedures we order and deliver will be billed directly to your insurance company unless you prefer to be billed directly.

Who should you consider enrolling in the Executive Health Program?

Traditionally, executive physicals have been designed for business leaders (executives) who need to optimize their health for the benefit of their company, stockholders and customers. For these patients, the cost of a premium exam is a bargain if it prevents an illness that could paralyze their business. For these patients, the Executive Health Program is ideal.

Unlike many executive physical programs, however, the Executive Health Program is available to everyone, not just business owners or corporate officers.

If you want reliable and thorough medical evaluations and discussions, convenient and considerate personalized treatment, in-depth and understandable medical explanations, or a second opinion doctor for your own health care team, you should consider the Bellin Health Executive Health Program.
