This class meets for two hours each week, for 8 weeks. Cost $60/couple for the series of classes.
This course is for individuals in their second trimester of pregnancy.
This class expands upon the regular Childbirth Education class into parenting and beyond. Childbirth Education Plus provides useful information that helps couples be more relaxed in the hospital. You will learn what to expect before and after your delivery. Topics include:
preparing for childbirth and parenting
recognizing onset of labor, when to call your doctor
fetal development, warning signs in pregnancy
nutrition in pregnancy, healthy lifestyles
emotional and physical changes that occur during pregnancy
latent labor, active labor, physical and emotional symptoms
breathing patterns are introduced and practiced at each session
medications, comfort measures
second stage of labor, pushing and delivery
other options in child birth
how to prepare for your hospital stay
characteristics of the newborn
learning infant care skills, bathing, feeding
discussion of pleasures and challenges of getting to know your newborn
video of an actual delivery, adjustments to parenting, post-partum period, and family planning.
