Twenty-one runners to participate in their 33rd Bellin Run
GREEN BAY — Another record number of runners are expected to cross the finish line at this year’s Bellin Run, but only 21 can say they’ve crossed it every year since the race’s inception in 1977. This exclusive group has been dubbed the “Bellin Run Legends,” and its members are gearing up for their 33rd Bellin Run on Saturday, June 13.
On race day, the Legends will be wearing yellow T-shirts, the sleeve recognizing Bellin Run Legend, Bruce MacNeil of Green Bay, who passed away recently.
“We will remember Bruce and his family and keep them in our hearts,” said race director Randy Van Straten. “Like our other legends, Bruce performed a major accomplishment each year he showed up for the Bellin Run. The Legends’ participation says a lot about them personally, and says a lot about the Green Bay area and the Bellin Run as well.”
Legends from Wisconsin cities like Green Bay, Seymour, Appleton, Menomonee Falls, Luxemburg, Madison, Hayward and Pittsville rally together each year for the annual 10K (6.2 mile) run through the streets of Green Bay and Allouez.
“I really enjoy the physical challenge of the Bellin Run, but I also look forward to the atmosphere,” said Pete Knox, a Bellin Run Legend from Luxemburg. “It’s great to see familiar faces each year and enjoy the camaraderie of being with so many individuals who are running or walking with their own personal goals in mind.”
The Legends will join elite runners, everyday runners, dedicated walkers, experienced wheelchair racers and young running enthusiasts at the Bellin Run starting line at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 13. For more information, check out www.bellinrun.com.
