Price Advantage for Online Registration
Traditionally, runners have had to pay a processing fee for the convenience of registering online. The Bellin Run has turned this math upside down. In an effort to promote online registration, you’ll pay $3 less when you register online. This applies to both adult and child registrations through June 11, when online registration closes.
Wave Starts
The Bellin Run is instituting a new wave start format to ensure the event is safe and enjoyable - and allows participants the opportunity for peak performance. Wave starts consist of staggered starts of smaller groups instead of one huge start.
Runners are placed in one of seven waves with similarly paced participants. Each wave has its own start with a short interval between waves, lessening congestion. The enclosed Start Map displays how the waves will be grouped on race day.
Astor Park New Location for Activities
For years, Bellin Run participants have walked and ran past Astor Park as they neared the finish line. This year, the spacious park, located at the corner of Clay and Porlier streets, will be a focal point for several Bellin Run activities on Thursday, Friday and Saturday including a runners’ clinic, registration and packet pick-up, spaghetti dinner, children’s run, health & fitness expo, and post-race refreshments and activities.
Thursday Night Runners’ Clinic
Join trained sports medicine professionals and a couple of special guests at Astor Park at 6 p.m. on the Thursday before the Bellin. You’ll have the chance to pick up some pointers and ask questions before a 2-mile fun run with running legends Bill Rodgers and Joan Samuelson.
Personalize Your Goodie Bag
How can you make sure everything you get in your bag is what you will use? - by selecting it yourself. We’re adding a section to bellinrun.com where you can print the information and offers you want, reducing waste. In addition, products offered by our sponsors will be available in grab bins at the Friday Night Health & Fitness Expo.
Reconfigured Finish
The finish line isn’t changing, but where you go after the finish is. After you cross the finish line, you will be redirected to Astor Park. Along the way you will get water and sports beverages, and you can remove your chip if you wish to recycle it. More refreshments, entertainment and the awards ceremony will take place in the park.
Recyclable Timing Chips
All 10K runners and walkers will be issued a computerized chip to attach to your shoe. These chips enable all participants to receive a more accurate time. The chip records the time when it crosses the start line and when it crosses the finish line. After you cross the finish line you may remove your chip from your shoe and recycle it in a designated receptacle in the finish area.
Containers for Recycling
The Bellin Run wants you to make tracks, not carbon footprints. Events like the Bellin Run can generate a lot of empty water bottles and other recyclable materials so we’re increasing the amount of containers for recyclables. Please utilize them.
Childcare
The Bellin Run is partnering with Encompass Early Education and Care for childcare on race day. Childcare for children ages 6 months to 11 years will be provided at the Encompass Carol Bush Center, 500 Pine Street, from 6:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Limited spots are available. Click Here to register. Registration closes Friday, June 5 at 4 p.m.
Childcare is offered at no cost to Bellin Run registered participants, however a charitable contribution to Encompass is welcome.
Remote Parking Shuttles
An additional shuttle location has been added. Participants may now park and be shuttled to the Bellin Run from one of two Shopko locations: East Town Mall or Bay Park Square Mall. Bay Park Square shuttle users should park in the location’s east lot.
Shuttles will pick up runners at both locations every 15 minutes from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. and drop them off at Astor Park. Return shuttles will run from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
