OCONTO FALLS — Charles Heyka, M.D., board certified in family medicine, recently joined Bellin Health Family Medical Center-Oconto Falls.
Heyka has special interest in preventive medicine – including risk-factor reduction – geriatric medicine, and working with children and adolescents. His practice philosophy is based on a few premises.
“First, I always remember that I’m a human being who happened to be fortunate enough to gain the skills necessary to be a physician,” he said. “Second, a large part of the treatment I provide is based on the concept of caring. That’s why I help educate my patients about their problems so we can act together as a team to improve their health.”
Some of Heyka’s specialty procedures include general office procedures such as skin lesion removal and biopsy, and laceration repairs.
He earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, Mich. He completed his residency training in family practice at Bon Secours Hospital, Grosse Pointe, Mich., and became a board-certified family physician in 1988.
Heyka sees patients at Bellin’s Family Medical Center-Oconto Falls, 833 S. Main St.
He is married, has six children and lives in Shawano. In his spare time, Heyka enjoys participating in sports activities, especially tennis, basketball and water sports.
