UnitedHealthcare developed the designation program to better offer its members information about, and access to, a listing of total joint replacement hospitals that meet rigorous quality criteria.
“Our UnitedHealthcare specialty center designation is based on detailed information from our health care system encompassing a number of areas, including specialized training, practice capabilities and outcomes,” said Mary Hiltunen, director of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Bellin Health.
“The designation helps potential patients make informed decisions about the cost and quality of our services should they ever need total joint replacement,” she said.
According to UnitedHealthcare, Bellin met the extensive quality criteria based on nationally recognized medical standards and expert advice. The criteria incorporate measurements of breadth and depth of care, staff experience, emergency care, quality and outcomes reporting.
“As consumers seek more information on where they receive care, the UnitedHealth Premium Specialty Center designation identifies (Bellin Health) as one that meets or exceeds nationally recognized standards of care,” said Roberta Antoine Dressen, UnitedHealthcare.
“This program helps consumers recognize that Bellin Health is a community leader in total joint replacement,” she said.
