BRILLION — Bellin Health Family Medical Center-Brillion and the American Lung Association are offering a program designed to aid people’s efforts to quit tobacco use.
The program, Freedom From Smoking, provides participants with small group settings and a fun and interactive learning environment, conducive to tobacco cessation.
“When a person is committed to ending their tobacco use, there are several proven methods to help,” said Debbie Leoni, community outreach coordinator and Freedom From Smoking facilitator at Bellin. “Those methods, however, work best when attempted within a group setting or with group support. Freedom From Smoking offers that type of support.”
A free information session on the program will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Bellin’s Brillion clinic, 964 W. Ryan St. The formal seven-week program will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning January 27. The cost is $50. Registration is required.
Program topics include: Medication to aid smoking cessation; lifestyle changes to make quitting easier; preparing for quit day; managing stress; avoiding weight gain; developing a new self image; and staying smoke-free for good.
