Speaking event scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 29

GREEN BAY – Bestselling author Dr. Meg Meeker will share her “10 Secrets to Raising Strong, Confident Children” during a public event at Southwest High School. Tickets are now on sale.

Meeker, author of “Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters: 10 Secrets Every Father Should Know,” will discuss ways to raise happy and healthy children. Her presentation is scheduled for 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29 at Southwest High School’s auditorium, 1331 Packerland Drive.

Look for Meeker to share information illustrating the importance of parental guidance, especially as it relates to fathers. She’ll share facts like:

• Toddlers securely attached to fathers are better at solving problems
• With fathers present in the home, kids manage school stress better
• A daughter’s self-esteem is best predicted by her father’s physical affection
• One in five Americans over age twelve tests positive for genital herpes
• 46.7 percent of students will be sexually active before high school ends

“This is an invaluable program. Parents and legal guardians can learn from a nationally-known expert about building healthier relationships with their children – especially with regard to fathers and daughters – to help them build the confidence to reach their potential at home and in school, in their careers and in society in general,” said Amy St. Laurent, director Family Programs & Services at Bellin Health.
