Free heart-health screenings for NFL alumni

What: In conjunction with the Green Bay Packers Alumni Weekend and the NFL Player Care Foundation, Boone Heart Institute will be conducting free heart-health screenings for NFL Alumni at Bellin Hospital on Saturday, Sept. 18. Approximately 30 former Packers and other NFL players will take advantage of the comprehensive screening tests.

When: Saturday, Sept. 18. Screenings will begin at 8 a.m.

Where: Bellin Hospital
             744 South Webster Ave.
             Green Bay, WI 54305-3400

Why: Heart disease has been the number one killer of Americans for more than three decades. The Boone Heart Institute is working with the NFL Player Care Foundation to test all retired NFL players for early evidence of heart and blood vessel disease.

These free screenings include state-of-the-art preventive cardiovascular testing. The focus of the institute is dedicated to the management of heart disease and stroke through prevention, early detection, and aggressive treatment. It is designed to stop cardiovascular problems before they turn into adverse events. This program has already saved lives and is available to any individual who participated in a down of NFL football.
