Health Value Network, Humana enter 4-year deal

Agreement began March 1

GREEN BAY – The Northeast Wisconsin Health Value Network (NEWHVN) and Humana Wisconsin Health Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), signed a four-year agreement to provide health care services effective March 1.

The agreement will allow the more than 40,000 Humana commercial and Medicare Advantage members located in Northeast Wisconsin access to NEWHVN’s network of providers. The network covers 12 counties in the region and is comprised of two major health systems, Bellin Health and ThedaCare, seven major health care facilities and nearly 630 physicians.

The four-year health care services agreement provides a platform to deliver superior health care value said Jeff Squier, NEWHVN executive director.

“Our contracting model seeks to deliver consistently high value by sharing clinical information, best-in-class outcomes, and competitive pricing,” Squier said.

Squier further explained that cooperation among health care entities is paramount.

“By having providers, hospitals and physicians working cooperatively to reduce costs, we are able to provide a high standard of patient care at an affordable price.”

Formed in early 2008, NEWHVN’s mission is to bring a unique high-quality product to Northeast Wisconsin. Members of NEWHVN have come together to create value through quality improvement, efficiency of care provided and an approach which emphasizes life long health. NEWHVN’s network of physicians have a strong history of working together to greatly improve quality.

“We are excited about this relationship with NEWHVN, as it is a perfect extension of Humana’s commitment to providing greater access and options for quality care in Wisconsin,” said Kristine Seymour, president of Humana’s Wisconsin market. “This collaborative approach benefits our members and our focus is doing what’s best for them.”
