Nominations sought for local health care award

GREEN BAY – The Bellin Health Foundation is accepting nominations for its Healthcare in Action Community Service Award.

The foundation uses the award to help recognize and encourage community service activities by those affiliated with Bellin Health, as well as similar efforts by area health care supporters.

The award will be presented during the Bellin Health Foundation Black Tie and Blue Jean Extravaganza. That event, 6:30-10:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, is an annual fundraiser in which participants mix and match formal and casual dress to create their attire for the evening.

Examples of projects that may be submitted for consideration include ventures such as the establishment of free clinics, disease/health care awareness programs, medical or legal clinics for the homeless, ambassador projects, health education television or radio shows, sports examinations for underprivileged children, drug abuse prevention programs, anti-tobacco, or anti-domestic violence programs, medical missions or other volunteer programs.

Last year’s recipient of the award was the Friends of Haiti. That organization helps improve the overall health of Haitians through diagnosis and treatment of various health conditions, including chronic and acute illnesses, emergencies and baby deliveries. Funding for this work is based on donations by local hospitals, physician offices, hospice centers and family and friends.

An online version of the Healthcare in Action Community Service Award nomination form is available at Organizations or individuals may submit more than one nomination. All nomination entries must be received by Tuesday, June 14.
