GREEN BAY – Bellin Hospital Laboratory has been awarded an accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists based on excellence of service.
The accreditation follows a recent onsite inspection during which College of American Pathologists inspectors examined the laboratory’s records and quality control procedures for the preceding two years. Inspectors also examined the qualifications of lab employees, lab equipment, the lab’s safety program, the overall management of the laboratory and other areas.
“It was a thorough inspection process and should signal to our patients the first-rate quality of services Bellin Health provides within its laboratory department,” said Linda Bertola, team leader, Bellin Hospital laboratory. “The inspectors specifically congratulated us for ‘excellence of the services being provided.’”
Bellin is one of more than 7,000 College of American Pathologists-accredited laboratories worldwide.
The inspection program is designed to ensure the highest standard of care for lab patients, the accreditation organization says. The program – serving more than 17,000 physician members – is the largest association composed exclusively of board-certified pathologists and is considered a worldwide leader in laboratory quality assurance.
