Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis, more common in women than men, is a condition that features loss of the normal density of bone. This can cause fractures of the bones even during everyday activities. We’re dedicated to helping you reduce the risk of fractures through education and early detection.

At Bellin, we offer Bone Density Screenings to help identify those patients who might be suffering from osteoporosis. A Bone density scan, also called dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) or bone densitometry, is an enhanced form of x-ray technology that is used to measure bone loss. DEXA is today's established standard for measuring bone mineral density (BMD). A urine test may also be used to determine the rate of bone loss.

In our ongoing effort to make healthcare more convenient, we also offer onsite Bone Density Screenings though our Mobile Screening program.
