Schedule: PT (.6)/48- Day/PM, every other weekend
Responsible and accountable for providing quality professional nursing care to patients and their families and significant others adhering to the WI Nurse Practice Act, Administrative Code of the WI Board of Nursing, the ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and Bellin Health Policies and Procedures. The responsibility includes providing a safe environment for patients, families, staff, and visitors and working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide the best outcomes for the patient. Community involvement and collaboration is encouraged. The Psychiatric Mental Health Registered Nurse is committed to promoting mental health through the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of behavioral problems, mental disorders, and comorbid conditions across the lifespan. The RN provides, structures, and maintains a safe, therapeutic, recovery-oriented environment in collaboration with patients, families, and the multi-disciplinary care team. The RN integrates knowledge of pharmacological, biological, and complementary interventions with applied clinical skills, in order to assist the patient in their individual recovery by improving and regaining their previous coping abilities, fostering mental health, and preventing mental disorder and disability. Through the use of the therapeutic relationship, nursing interventions, and educational programming, the RN assists in progress towards individualized treatment goals in the acute care, crisis-stabilization inpatient setting. The RN provides direct supervision to nursing assistants, licensed practical nurses, and behavioral health specialists to ensure the safety of the patient in the milieu/care environment. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required. The RN must complete their BSN within five years of the 6/1/17 effective date or hire date if hired after 6/1/17. The Bachelor’s degree requirement may be waived for existing Diploma and Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) RNs based on guidelines established by leadership. If the RN holds a Bachelor’s degree other than a BSN; requirements, again, will be determined by leadership. RN license in the state of practice required (RN must practice under the law and regulations governing nursing in the state of practice). Certification encouraged in job specialty. Minimum of one year RN experience and psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
