Half Marathon Presents Free Yoga & Healthy Habits Session
Event aims to connect women as they train for third annual race
The Bellin Women’s Half Marathon will present “Namaste & Nurse Jesse,” a free yoga and healthy habits event, from 6-7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1 in Conference Room 12 of Bellin Health’s 1920 Libal St. location.
The evening will kick off with a few words from race director Linda Maxwell before Bellin Fitness instructor Catherine Thompson takes participants through a 45-minute beginner-level yoga class. As they cool down, attendees will enjoy an informative and candid 15-minute healthy habits discussion with Bellin’s own Nurse Jesse.
“Our event is about running, but we know there’s so much more to women’s lives,” Maxwell said. “Our goal is to help our participants — and prospective participants — improve their health and wellbeing in a variety of areas.”
Water and light snacks will be provided. A limited number of yoga mats will be available for use during the event, so participants are encouraged to bring their own mats if possible.
This is the first of two wellbeing sessions being offered in advance of the third annual Bellin Women’s Half Marathon on Saturday, Oct. 7. Back by popular demand, race organizers will offer “Nutrition & Know-How” the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 12.
Dubbed “a race to empower women,” the third annual Bellin Women’s Half Marathon, presented by Eli Lilly and Company, will take place Saturday, Oct. 7. The only event of its kind in Northeastern Wisconsin, the race celebrates and motivates female athletes of all levels and abilities. The focus also provides an opportunity to spotlight training and health issues specifically related to women. Participants are supported with twice-weekly morning training runs and periodic special events, as well as an inspirational, one-of-a-kind race weekend experience.
