Bellin Health Proud to Sponsor Pine Mountain Ski Jump
Annual event draws international competitors, thousands of spectators
IRON MOUNTAIN, MICH. — Bellin Health is again happy to be the naming sponsor for Upper Michigan’s premier ski jumping event, which will be held Saturday, Feb. 10 and Sunday, Feb. 11.
The 2018 Bellin Health Pine Mountain Continental Cup ski jumping competition will take place at Pine Mountain Golf & Ski Resort. The event draws local and global competitors with jumpers from the United States, Norway, Finland, Austria, Poland, Norway, Switzerland, Great Britain, Germany, Slovenia and the Czech Republic either scheduled to participate or have expressed interest in this year’s event.
Nearly 20,000 spectators annually attend the ski jump event, taking in the competition and enjoying tailgating, live music and a festive atmosphere. This year’s event takes place at the same time as the Winter Olympics in South Korea. Each country typically sends the top four or five ski jump qualifiers to the Olympics, with many of the remaining World Cup jumpers heading to Upper Michigan for the Continental Cup.
Bellin has sponsored the ski jump since 2010. The health system’s support helps fund the event while continuing Bellin’s ongoing efforts to extend goodwill to its Upper Michigan neighbors and friends.
“The Bellin Health Pine Mountain Continental Cup is a significant international event, and it’s also very important — and a great source of enjoyment — for the local community,” said Linda Roethle, Bellin Health vice president of regional business development. “We are happy to be a part of this event and and support these world class athletes.”
The Pine Mountain Ski Jump is one of the highest artificially created ski jumps in the world. It is part of the Kiwanis Ski Club.
