Bellin Health to Offer Boosters for Ages 12-15

Shots encouraged as cases, hospitalizations remain high amid omicron surge

Beginning Monday, Jan. 10, Bellin Health will offer Pfizer BioNTech’s COVID-19 booster shots to individuals 12 years and up at all Bellin vaccination locations. The move comes after the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently expanded eligibility of booster doses to those ages 12 to 15. The CDC now recommends adolescents ages 12 to 17 receive a booster shot five months after their initial Pfizer vaccination series.

“With the emergence of the highly contagious omicron variant and the continued burden of very high case and hospitalization numbers in our region, boosters have become an increasingly critical tool in the fight against COVID-19,” said Bellin Health Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Michael Landrum. “While we are seeing more breakthrough cases with omicron than with previous variants, we know that vaccination — and especially boosters — offers critical protection from severe illness and death from the disease.”

Bellin Health administers COVID-19 vaccinations to patients and the public at the following locations:
1. Bellin Health’s Ashwaubenon Community Vaccination Site, 1630 Commanche Ave.
2. Bellin Health Primary Care clinic locations.

*Note that vaccine appointments for patients ages 5 - 11 are available at select locations only. Bellin will expand vaccination availability to all its clinics as vaccine rollout proceeds.
