ASHWAUBENON — Bellin Health’s XL Athletic Performance Center and professional baseball pitcher Dave Gassner will hold a pitching camp on January 10.

The 2009 Dave Gassner’s Pitching Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, January 10, 2009. The second annual camp is designed to provide insight on how best to become a complete pitcher in baseball.

Instruction will include throwing mechanics, velocity and accuracy, pre-game warm up and stretching routines, and exercises to build strength and flexibility to prevent injuries in the shoulder and elbow.

The camp is for players age 10 and older. The cost is $65. Registration ends January 2. Parents and coaches are admitted for free and are welcome to observe the event.

Gassner, a Hortonville High School graduate, attended Purdue University and was 1st Team All-Big Ten his senior year. The Toronto Blue Jays selected him in the 24th round of the 2001 baseball draft. In 2003, he was traded to the Minnesota Twins. In 2005, he made his big league debut versus the Cleveland Indians. He is currently with a Boston Red Sox affiliate.
