GREEN BAY — The Wisconsin Academy of Physician Assistants last week named Kim Shefchik, a physician assistant at OB-GYN Associates of Green Bay, its physician assistant of the year.
The announcement was made during the academy’s annual meeting held in Appleton.
“Personally, I’m honored by this recognition. It’s an accomplishment to savor and I am thankful to the academy for the recognition and to my colleagues for their support,” Shefchik said. “I hope, however, that it serves as more than an accolade to me and offers a strong indication of the level of service we provide our patients.”
Office manager Steve Pfeiffer said Shefchik’s award provided another source of pride for OB-GYN Associates, 704 S. Webster Ave., Suite 300, Green Bay.
“We are thrilled for Kim,” he said. “She’s deserving of the recognition. We see that in her day-to-day dealings with our patients. We’re all proud of her and happy for her.”
The academy publicly recognizes the top physician assistant in the state as one who demonstrates an exemplary commitment and a high degree of professionalism to the physician assistant profession. Award winners also excel in efforts to benefit their patients, community and state.
Physician assistants practice medicine under the supervision of physicians and surgeons. They are formally trained to provide diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive health care services. They take medical histories, examine and treat patients, order and interpret laboratory tests and X-rays and make diagnoses. Physician assistants also treat minor injuries. PAs record progress notes, instruct and counsel patients, and order or carry out therapy.
OB-GYN Associates is a Bellin Health partner.
