GREEN BAY — The Bellin Health Orthopedic Surgery Center and partner Orthopedic Sports Medicine Specialists will host a grand opening event on Thursday, Aug. 19.
The event will kick off with a public reception and tours at 5:30 p.m.
The $11.9 million project to build a 15,000-sqaure-foot orthopedic surgery center and 35,000-square-foot orthopedic and rheumatology practices was completed in March.
The surgery center, at 2223 Lime Kiln Road in Bellevue, offers treatment and care for a number of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions ranging from ACL and rotator cuff tears to fractures and bunions and meniscal tears.
“This facility is another example of how advances in surgery technology and trends in health care allow more patients to get treatment without admission to the hospital,” said Dr. James Spears, a partner of the orthopedic group.
About two-thirds of all surgeries nationwide are outpatient procedures not requiring a hospital stay, according to a National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report released in January.
Due to the types of procedures routinely performed in outpatient ambulatory surgery centers and the economic efficiencies these facilities offer, there will be cost savings for consumers.
George Kerwin, Bellin Health president and CEO, estimates patients will save about 15 to 20 percent of their total bill by using this new facility.
“Consumers will benefit from lower costs while getting the safe, high-quality health care they have always experienced at Bellin Health,” Kerwin said. “We want all patients to get the right level of care at the right price so they experience greater health. This is a prime example of our efforts to accomplish that goal.”
Dr. James Grace, another partner of the orthopedic group, said the surgery center offers clear advantages. “This center will result in increased patient satisfaction and physician efficiency. We are pleased to be able to bring a new level of service to the greater Green Bay community.”
