CIGNA, Bellin reach coverage agreement
GREEN BAY — Bellin Health announced today that it has reached an agreement with CIGNA HealthCare to offer in-network access to its providers and services beginning April 1, 2010.
The agreement gives CIGNA plan customers access to Bellin’s hospitals, psychiatric center and clinics, along with access to specialty physicians affiliated with the health system.
“We know that more businesses in the Green Bay area need both a national and local network of hospitals and doctors. We are pleased that we are able to expand our network to include Bellin Health and better serve the employers and customers of Green Bay,” said Sue Podbielski, president, CIGNA HealthCare Midwest markets.
Matt Vechart, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Endries International of Brillion, said the company’s employees will benefit significantly from the inclusion of Bellin Health in their preferred provider network.
“Bellin listened to our needs and worked diligently with CIGNA to fill a gap that had been created due to a plan change from our parent corporation,” said Vechart. “Once we explained our situation, Bellin aggressively pursued an agreement with CIGNA and, moving forward, our associates within the Bellin Health service area will have the benefit of reduced co-pays and competitive rates for their health care when they visit Bellin Health providers.”
Bellin officials indicated this was “the right thing to do” for consumers and helps prevent the disruption of health care services.
“One of the core elements that enable an individual to maintain or improve their personal health is their relationship with their physician. This agreement helps keep those relationships intact,” said Randy Van Straten, director of Business Health Solutions at Bellin Health. “We look forward to the opportunity to work with CIGNA and provide care for their customers.”
