Bellin’s Escanaba clinic open house draws more than 300
ESCANABA – A little more than 300 people enjoyed the festivities last week during Bellin Health’s open house celebration at its new 18,000-square-foot family medical center at 610 South Lincoln Road.
Guests at the open house for the recently completed Bellin Health Family Medical Center-Escanaba were treated to refreshments, musical entertainment, free health screenings, and tours of the facility.
Visitors also were eligible to win Green Bay Packers tickets and a team football. Deb Kallenbach of Niagra, Wis., and Carol Brown of Escanaba won the tickets and the football, respectively.
Several enhanced health care services are now available to area patients including patient health education for managing diabetes, smoking cessation and weight management programs, telemedicine and convenient access to specialty providers; and in partnership with OSF St. Francis Hospital, an expansion of onsite laboratory and radiology services.
Other services available at the clinic include telephone access to schedule appointments 24 hours a day, seven days a week; same day appointments; and a 24-hour community health line staffed by registered nurses who answer health-related questions and direct callers to appropriate care, as needed.
The clinic’s construction is part of Bellin’s broader plan to help improve the overall health and well-being of the Escanaba community, said Amy Dettman, vice president of Bellin Medical Group.
“It’s been demonstrated on a national level that strengthening the relationship between patients and their primary care physician can lead to improved overall health,” Dettman said. “We take this philosophy seriously and are working to ensure all of our clinics are certified as medical homes, including Bellin Health Family Medical Center-Escanaba.
“Primary care and the strengthened relationships between our patients and our physicians will play a pivotal role in helping to improve Escanaba’s overall health and well-being while helping us to attain Bellin’s vision of ensuring that the people in our region are the healthiest in the nation,” Dettman said.
Green Bay-based Bellin Health has served the people of Northeast Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula for more than 100 years. The health system has clinics in Escanaba, Iron Mountain, Kingsford and Norway.
