Prospective students encouraged to attend Bellin College events

BELLEVUE – Students pondering a career in nursing are encouraged to attend upcoming events at Bellin College that are tailor-made to help shape their decision.

The college – the upgraded facility was built in 2009 – is hosting two campus visits and a Preview Day event all designed to encourage prospective students to consider pursing a nursing career through Bellin College. The events are open to students and their families as well as to the general public.

Bellin College, 3201 Eaton Road, Bellevue, will host the campus visits from 1-3 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 7, and 4-6 p.m., on Thursday, November 10. The visits provide students with a snapshot of campus life by exposing them to a number of college offerings through guided tours. One tour highlight is a simulation laboratory where students can interact with a high-tech mannequin that breathes, has a pulse and is programmed to speak as a patient might.

The day’s events will also include informal discussions with administrative staff, financial aid advisors and academic program directors. Prospective students will have the opportunity to mingle with current students and get to know first-hand how Bellin College can support students’ plans to pursue careers in nursing.

“We will educate prospective students on a number of topics including: current trends in nursing; how to compare financial aid packages; the advantages of a four-year degree in nursing or radiologic sciences; and the diverse job market for registered nurses and radiologic technologists,” said Matt Rentmeester, vice president, Development and Public Relations. “Our doors are open to all interested students and their families.”

A separate event, Bellin College Preview Day, scheduled for 1-3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, will include tours of the facility and an opportunity to meet with admissions officials. This event will place heavier emphasis on one-on-one interaction between the prospective students and college representatives. The event’s open house style compliments the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Campus Preview Day scheduled for early that morning.

“We encourage anyone considering a career in nursing to visit us during these special events,” Rentmeester said. “It’s an opportunity for us to better acquaint prospective students with our programs and help them determine what they need to begin a fulfilling career in nursing.”

Bellin College offers a number of program options designed to meet students’ needs. Program options include:

• A fast-track 15-month bachelor’s degree program for returning students that have completed their general degree requirements
• A traditional option designed for students who have or will have a high school diploma at the time of enrollment
• A sophomore transfer option designed for students who have completed specific liberal education courses
• A four-year Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences program, with general education courses taught at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay
• A master’s degree program that includes a nurse educator track and next year will offer a family nurse practitioner track
