Child and Adolescent Hospital Services
Bellin Psychiatric Center provides inpatient hospital services to children and adolescents when it is medically indicated to provide 24-hour hospital care to assure a safe environment is maintained for the individual.
Our care team includes a board-certified child psychiatrist (hospitalist), psychologists, mental health therapists, nurses, occupational therapists, mental health assistants and case managers.
A special unit designed for children is provided for youth 12 years of age and under. Adolescents, ages 13 to 17, are hospitalized on an additional unit designed to meet their unique needs.
During their hospitalization, children and adolescents receive a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. In addition, ongoing therapies occur in individual and group settings. Family therapy is also routinely provided prior to the discharge plan being completed. A treatment plan is created with the patient and family. This treatment plan is communicated to the next level of care after discharge to facilitate communication and continuity.
