Drs. Steven J. Gerndt and Kevin A. Greer, formerly owners of Green Bay Cardiothoracic & Vascular, joined forces with Bellin Health as part of the Heart and Vascular Team to form Bellin Health Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery on May 1st, 2013.
With over 30 years of combined clinical experience, these surgeons bring a diversity of expertise and training to a well established tradition of excellence in both Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery. The two are not new to the Green Bay area, having spent the last decade introducing new surgical capabilities at Bellin Hospital including robotic thoracic surgery, endovascular thoracic aneurysm repair, minimally invasive valve surgery, video assisted thoracoscopic (VATS) lobectomy, laser assisted pacing lead extraction and most recently, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).
As a result, Bellin Health System now offers the most complex and complete Heart Surgery program in Northeast Wisconsin. Their breadth of knowledge and experience, combined with this broad scope of innovative techniques, allows them to personalize the treatment of every patient to his or her unique needs. Together, Drs. Greer and Gerndt are excited to offer state of the art therapies in Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery that lead the region in quality, safety and effectiveness.
As a system, we openly report our outcomes data to the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) database which allows comparison of our performance to health care institutions across the nation. As perhaps the most respected and longest running healthcare database in the country, the STS gives us the important information we need to be sure we are aiming our efforts sharply in the pursuit of excellence.
