The AAA Center

Bellin Cardiology Associates and Bellin Surgical Associates now offer a unique program focusing on early identification of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAA) that would benefit from an Endovascular Approach to Repair (EVAR). Up to 80% of AAA’s can be repaired with an endovascular technique. Bellin Health has been performing these procedures since 2010 with superior outcome results.

Finding this disease early can save lives. People who suffer from an AAA are most commonly individuals between 65 and 75 years of age, and are more common among men and smokers. AAA's cause major complications when large amounts of blood spill into the abdominal cavity, and can lead to death.

Treatment is usually recommended when an AAA grows to >5 cm in diameter. In years past, the only treatment of AAA was open surgery. Since 2003, Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) has surpassed open aortic surgery as the most commom technique for repair of AAA in the United States.
