The Valve Center Experience

Welcome to The Valve Center, part of the Bellin Health Heart & Vascular Team. The Valve Center combines the expertise of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery to provide you with a single destination for complete and thorough evaluation and treatment of any heart valve problem.

Since May of 2012 our Valve Team has been performing Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR). There have been significant advances since our first procedure and we offer the most up to date TAVR technology including Edwards Life Sciences Sapien.

If your doctor tells you that you have a heart valve problem, an appointment with The Valve Center at Bellin Health is your next step. Call 920-617-2071 for more information or to make an appointment.

What to expect:

Before your visit, you will be contacted by our valve clinic coordinator who will obtain your history, review any testing you have had completed, and discuss what you can expect at your appointment.  Prior to your appointment, any additional testing will be arranged to insure a streamlined experience. During your appointment, you will meet with the team that consists of a cardiologist, cardiothoracic surgeon, nurse practitioner, and valve clinic coordinator.

Some of the tests you may need prior to considering a valve replacement include a CT scan, echocardiogram, heart catheterization, and/ or carotid ultrasound. These will be ordered and arranged at the time of your valve clinic appointment.

When your testing is complete, you will be scheduled for your valve replacement.

Following your valve replacement, you will likely be in the hospital for 2-4 days. The valve team will be closely monitoring your progress as you recover and making sure all of your needs are met.

Once you leave the hospital, we will follow you closely to ensure you have a strong recovery. We will work with all of your health care providers to make sure everyone involved in your care is well informed of your procedure and progress.
