Aquatic Therapy

The Bond Bellin Health Bond Community Center is equipped with a SWIMEX therapy pool, set at a comfortable 92 degrees. The pool is built with a propulsion system to provide a current strong enough to challenge the biggest athlete and gentle enough for the most painful joint. The focus of this type of intervention strategy is to provide rehabilitation in a decreased stress environment with progression towards land-based exercise to optimize pain management strategies and function.

In collaboration with Bellin Health’s skilled physical therapy staff members, an individualized aquatic program can be developed to progress towards personal goals and optimal recovery. Current evidence supports the use of hydrotherapy and exercise to optimize well-being, improve pain management strategies and health status in the management of conditions including:

  • Joint pain and stiffness
  • Muscle spasms
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Various neurologic conditions
  • Other chronic conditions
  • Complementary strategy to extend the careers of athletes and maximize progression in the early stages of rehab.
