Midwife Program

Expect options. Expect excellence.

When it comes to having a baby, every woman has her own idea of her ideal birthing experience. But every woman wants an experience that's safe for mother and baby, empathetic and compassionate, and grounded in the best medical practices.

The Physician and Midwife Collaborative Practice from Bellin Health Generations

The Bellin Health Generations Physician and Midwife Collaborative Practice offers a team of healthcare providers who specialize in obstetrical and gynecological care, with offices throughout Northeastern Wisconsin.

  • Obstetricians and gynecologists
  • Certified nurse midwives (CNM)
  • Nurse practitioners (NP)
  • Physician assistants (PA)

Since 2013, our Physician and Midwife Collaborative Team has offered women in our region the option of a different experience for pregnancy, labor, birth and the postpartum period. A midwife/physician team can provide more one-on-one face time and a closer partnership between patient and caregiver. With greater access to caregivers who can focus on the mother's wants and needs, mothers and families can feel safer and more in control - all while receiving the highest quality of care.

From routine to specialized care, our team is here when you need us.

Although most pregnancies are uneventful, our team provides outstanding care for emergencies, with 24/7 on-site hospital coverage from highly skilled obstetricians, gynecologists and neonatologists.

Helping moms-to-be to be their best.

Our prenatal care is comprehensive and designed to help you be your healthiest for yourself and your baby. We provide a unique combination of education, empathy, technology and monitoring through blood tests and sonograms to stay on top of potential issues.

Our team members at experts at guiding you through the ongoing changes in your body - and the impending changes in your life. If an illness or complication should develop during your pregnancy, your pregnancy team will pursue the best approach to manage your condition.

We believe that more human support during labor and delivery leads to better pregnancy outcomes. That's why both an obstetrician and a midwife will work together to care for you throughout your labor and the postpartum period.

Your collaborative care team.

Although the idea of a midwife - a person who helps a mother before, during, and after labor and delivery - may be familiar, the title of certified nurse midwife (CNM) is frequently less so. Certified nurse midwives have undergraduate and advanced degrees in nursing and midwifery, as well as extensive training in women's health and obstetrics. At Bellin Generations, you have the option to schedule all of your routine gynecological care with a CNM, including annual exams with PAP smear, birth control consults and common gynecological problems.

Our nurse practitioners (NP) and physician assistants (PA) are also highly qualified to care for our OB/GYN patients, with a graduate degree in medical care and training in contraception techniques, diagnosis of common gynecologic problems, prenatal care and primary care. NPs and PAs are available at all our office locations.

In our collaborative model of care, you're able to choose to see a physician, CNM, PA or NP for your visit, but you'll still have the benefit of the full team working together to ensure the highest level of evidence-based medical care. And a physician will always be available immediately for consultation as necessary.
