Reason for Visiting Bellin Health: Torn rotator cuff and partially torn bicep tendon
Goals: My goal was to eliminate pain, and gain range of motion strength.
What motivated you to begin your journey with us?
In May of 2019 I was putting in my dock for the summer when I felt something pop in my shoulder. Afterward, I felt moderate pain, loss of strength and range of motion. Several X-rays and MRIs later, Dr. Spears diagnosed the tears in my rotator cuff and bicep tendon.
What obstacles did you have to overcome?
Impatience on the rehabilitation. Recovery from this surgery takes a while!
What part did Bellin Movement Performance Lab play in helping you?
Obviously, Dr. Spears’ skill in repairing the tears played a huge role! The other significant factor was all the help from the Physical Therapists after the surgery to help me rehabilitate.
How has your life changed?
The good news is my life has not changed. I am back to where I was before the injury. In fact, my shoulder hasn’t felt this good or functioned this well in decades.
What advice would you give to help others?
I would say the most important thing is to do what the Doctor and Physical Therapists tell you to do (and not to do) after the surgery. I was committed to getting the best possible outcome, so I put a lot of time and effort in the rehab. I think it has paid off!
